Marine Growth Prevention Systems
Corrosion Control Engineering designs, supplies and installs marine growth prevention systems (MGPS). A common method of fouling prevention in seawater cooling systems is the use of a MGPS, which usually consists of two types of anodes, a copper alloy rod to prevent marine fouling and aluminium or a ferrous alloy rod along with a transformer rectifier controller power unit.
Specially formulated copper alloyed anodes are used to prevent marine fouling found in pipework, strainers, heat exchangers, pumps and box coolers that cause blockages and can accelerate corrosion processes. Organic fouling is not harmed and the systems do not damage the environment
